Most jobs you apply to will request a CV though some will ask you fill in an application form or use your LinkedIn profile. But even if they do that, you will still likely be asked for a CV. So if you plan to change jobs, or even plan to get a promotion, or apply for a NED role, you will probably need some kind of CV or Executive Bio.
Your CV is the summary of the professional you and should make it easy for the reader to understand what you do and the value you could bring to their company. That is what we aim for at The CV Workshop.
There are a lot of misconceptions about ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems). ATS is a software platform used by companies to manage their recruitment – sometimes it’s an entire staff management system, other times purely for managing recruitment.
Many people believe that ATS systems ‘scan’ your CV for keywords and will reject your CV if it lacks them. This is not true. An ATS system is basically a digital folder. When you apply for a job, your CV lands in an ‘in box’ dedicated to the specific job role you applied to.
A recruiter, a member of HR or the Talent Acquisition team, or sometimes even the hiring manager will then look through the CVs in the inbox and decide who to progress to the next stage and who to regret.
We ensure that your CV is effective and targeted to the types of roles you wish to apply for. Our goal is that when the human reads your CV, they quickly decide to progress you to the next stage of the process.
We require payment in full before we commence your CV program. We invest a lot of time into creating your new document and as it is a personal service tailored to you, we cannot monetise it in any way other than you paying for it.
Our entire focus is on creating an effective and impactful CV for you that gets you interviews. We cannot however guarantee that you will get interviews as we are not in control of the roles you apply for and any other elements of the application process over and above the CV.
However, we are confident that should you apply for roles that are in line with your existing skill set, you will have a better chance of securing an interview with a CV Workshop CV than with your own. Please see our recommendations for proof that our CVs make a huge difference to people in the job market.
Whichever service package you choose, the process is very similar. Once payment is received, we will schedule the discovery call with you – this is one hour apart from Executive level when we allocate 90 minutes due to the additional time involved.
We will also ask for a copy of your current / latest CV as a document to work from. We will be happy to create a CV from scratch for our Early Career users, but for others a surcharge of £100.00 may be applied for the additional time that would be required to create a more detailed CV.
Once we have completed the call, we will work on crafting your new CV. We will complete this within 3 – 5 days or 5 days for the Executive level. If you need your CV sooner, please let us know when you book and we will try to accommodate you. In certain circumstances we may need to make an additional charge if it will require us working out of hours to complete.
Once we have written the CV, we will send you a draft to ensure that all content is accurate, especially names and dates. We will then make any amendments and your CV is then finalised and we will send you a Word and Pdf version.
We will advise you on how to update your LinkedIn profile.

We aim to provide you your CV within 3 – 5 days of the Discovery Call. For executive CVs this is 5 days. If you need your CV sooner, please contact us. We will do what we can to meet your timescales.

We occasionally use AI to generate ideas for CVs. We do not get AI to write CVs. Some companies use AI checkers to see if you’ve used AI in your application. Whilst these checkers aren’t always accurate (they can claim percentage chances of the document being AI written that are wrong), you don’t want it to think you used AI.
AI is only as good as the information you provide to it. You could run your ‘old’ CV through AI and it might make it sound better, but it would not be able to add in content that we learn from you during the discovery process which is personal to you.
AI is a blunt tool and your CV is a deeply personal document highlighting your career journey. We take pride in getting to know you and writing a document that has the right tone for you. AI can’t do that.
Genevieve is our key CV writer, though we also have a team of additional writers for specialisms and time sensitive documents.

If you are an Early Career user, then we can manage without an existing CV, otherwise yes, we do need a copy of whatever CV you currently have, even if it is out of date. This saves us time in the process as creating a CV from scratch. A LinkedIn profile with dates and job titles will do at a push. Ideally we’d like you to send us your existing CV (no matter how old or out of date) in a Word format before we do our discovery call.

We have significant experience of Sales at all levels, Presales, Customer Success, Account Management and other customer facing revenue impacting roles. We have experience in Software / SaaS / Telecoms / Technology in general / Legal.
However, whilst those are more specialist, we cover all commercial roles and sectors. Please note that currently we do not undertake medical CVs.
We will be happy to discuss this with you. We can provide a tailored Career Coaching package that will include a session dedicated to discussing your career goals, the reasons for changing and how best to achieve it. We will work with you to create an impactful and effective CV and offer you the opportunity to request changes once we have finished the draft document. We will always endeavour to ensure that you are happy with the finished document but cannot offer refunds for work we have completed.
